I currently enjoy an Nvidia Geforce 6100 and I want o upgrade to a better quality video card. Any input would be awesome since I own no clue what I am doing.

That depends on your budget. If you want the best Nvidia video card go for the DirectX 10 GeForce 8800GTX or Ultra. If you can't afford that much and still want to capture a directx 10 video card you can try the lower end cards of the Geforce 8 series approaching the 8500 or 8600. If that's still too much you can get the dirextx 9 card contained by the Geforce 7 series.
This is a very broad grill. It all depends on your budget and what games you want to play. The better the graphics card you entail, the more expensive it is going to be, obviously.
