I own a compute near a Intel E 4300 cpu. Can I upgrade to a 6420 or 6600 cpu short varying the motherboard

Will I inevitability additional hardware if I do requirement the motherboard?

You don't need to vary the motherboard if you want to upgrade to those. I'd recommend saving your money and freshly overclocking the 4300. It's one heck of an amazing chip for overclocking. And yeah, you can overclock a computer from circuit city
Yeah, you can. But just overclock. It's free and glib, especially for Core 2 CPUs.
Best place to check ? your motherboards manufacture, no point taking guesses after to find out it doesnt work.
It would help to know the businessman and model number of your motherboard. But I haven't seen any that will cart the 4300 and not the 6600. You might need faster RAM but your old-fashioned stuff should boot. It just might not bestow your system optimal speed. But the 4300 is a good chip. Why upgrade? The cost/benefit of this is low.
